Emmy Louvaris Speaks About Our Community

Hello my name is Emmy Louvaris, I’ve been a member of the St. Demetrios community since I was a young girl, and the support I received along the way has been foundational for me and my family. That is why I enjoy working towards her further development and growth. At St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox church we know that an effort made for the happiness of others, lifts us above ourselves. The support and love of our community has been in the hearts of Orthodox Christians living in South Florida for generations.

Many of our family members came here searching for a brighter tomorrow and for a promising future for their loved ones, and as they searched, they never forgot the most important ingredient—God. Looking back at the courage and faith it took to achieve these goals for their family and their faith, you can’t help but to stand in awe at their commitment. Because of the dedication and perseverance of these pioneers, we are blessed, today, with a beautiful church, a strong ministry and a growing family in Christ at St. Demetrios. We owe it to them, our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents to use the resources we have available to us today and the talent and skills, much of which was inherited from our predecessors, to perpetuate the legacy of these families, our families and the Orthodox faith that binds us.

Won’t you join me today and either buy a ticket yourself or sell the book that you received from us. This will, in turn, help us better serve the faithful of our community. Tickets can be turned in or purchased during the fellowship hour after church. Also be sure to share this wonderful project with your friends and relatives, as tickets can be found on line and are available for purchase from anywhere around the world. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to St. Demetrios and I look forward to seeing you in Church soon.

Manny Daskos Speaks about Mercedes

Hello my name is Manny and I want to talk to you for about 30 seconds about a tremendous opportunity we have at St Demetrios to fund some of our ministries in a beautiful and easy way. Last year this man Mr. Olivio Treto won the Grand Raffle Prize of a new Mercedes Benz. He chose not to take the model we raffled off but rather to add to his winnings and upgrade to a large model. Just think for a moment if you were the winner…what would you do? The first thing is you would probably jump up and down a few times.

St. Demetrios is a vibrant, thriving spiritual community with a lovely church adorned with precious icons of venerated saints and martyrs. On any given Sunday generations of families can be seen worshiping together within our sanctuary. But years of service to her faithful are wearing on our facilities, our church, and especially on our community center. In an effort to respond to all our financial needs we present the Mercedes raffle opportunity to our members with the potential to raise the monies needed to make up the shortfall between the pledge stewardship and what we actually need to administer the expenses of our church.

By simply reaching out to your friends, neighbors and co-workers and asking them to buy an opportunity to win a brand new beautiful Mercedes C250 we can do a great deal to solidify the financial needs of our church. If everyone sold just 10 tickets we will reach our goal, oh and don’t forget about the bonus. The individual who sells the winning ticket will win $2,000! It’s not a gamble when everyone is a winner! Just look at the winner in this email. He decided to take his winnings and apply them to another Mercedes as an upgrade. You can do the same if you win.

So what are you waiting for, get busy and sell your tickets today…there is no time to delay. Better yet buy one yourself. How about sharing the video with your relatives and friends and asking them to purchase their tickets online. It is really simple to do.

Thank you.

A Message From Your President

For half a century, many of us have called St. Demetrios home. I grew up here and interacted with people that I still call my friends. I serve as the President of the Parish Council.

We come to here to learn how to grow in our faith, how to enrich in our culture and how to grow as a community. There are many ways to progress in this growth and one of them which is just within our grasp is to beautify our facilities, more specifically our community center and social hall. How would you like to see our community center revamped and upgraded? Well, the great news is that recently our parish council agreed that a portion of the proceeds from this Mercedes raffle will go to the improvement and renovation of the hall. Isn’t it time we improve the hall? Well I think it’s long overdue, don’t you?

The Parish Council has appointed a great committee of individuals under the most capable leadership of John George our new Chairman. We have set a goal of selling 5000 tickets and it is with your help we will reach that goal.

All it takes is for each family to sell the one book of tickets that was sent to your home. That’s it…yes, it’s that simple. Just ask people to buy a few tickets so that they have a chance to win a luxury car. You can also forward this email to your friend and ask them to buy a ticket online. It is that simple.

Oh and also if you sell the winning ticket, you receive two thousand dollars – that’s win number one, if your friend wins, they win the car- that’s win number two, and win number three of course is St. Demetrios, her mission, her facilities and her families. Please support this worthy cause – Remember it’s a win, win, win!

Thank you,

Chris Nichols, Parish Council President
