Weekly Sunday Bulletin – Sunday of the Myrrhbearers

Sunday of the MyrrhbearersChrist is Risen!

Truly He is Risen!

May 4, 2014

When You descended to death, O Immortal Life, then, the light of Your divinity destroyed Hades. When You raised the dead from the depths of darkness, all the heavenly powers cried out, “Glory to You our Christ, the Giver of Life.” Lowering Your pure body from the Cross, Joseph wrapped it in clean muslin with fragrant spices and laid it in a new tomb. Standing by the tomb the angel said to the Myrrh-bearing women:

“Myrrh is for the dead; but Christ has shown Himself stranger to death.”

Weekly Sunday Bulletin – Great and Holy Pascha

Holy PaschaApril 20, 2014 – Great and Holy Pascha

We were buried with Him through Baptism into Death …
Even so we also should walk in newness of Life

Baptism is the Cross. What the Cross then, and Burial, is to Christ, Baptism has been to us, even if not in the same respects. For He died Himself and was buried in the flesh, but we have done both to sin… Here he hints, along with the duty of a careful walk, at the subject of the Resurrection… For if you have shared in Death and Burial, much more will you share in the Resurrection and Life… After the Resurrection to come had been set before us, he demands of us another, a new conversation, which is brought about in the present life by a change in habits.

Weekly Sunday Bulletin- Sunday of St. Mary of Egypt

St. Mary of EgyptApril 6, 2014 – 5th Sunday of Lent

O Christ, the power of your Cross has worked  wonders for  Mary of Egypt; she had been a harlot and has now become an example and ideal of ascetic life. Casting off the weakness of nature, she has bravely fought Satan. Now, as a saint in heaven, she has obtained the prize of victory and intercedes for our souls. Amen.
