Weekly Sunday Bulletin – Forgiveness Sunday

Cheesefare SundayFebruary 22, 2015

Before we enter the Lenten fast, we are reminded that there can be no true fast, no genuine repentance, no reconciliation with God, unless we are at the same time reconciled with one another. A fast without mutual love is the fast of demons. . . We do not travel the road of Lent as isolated individuals but as members of a family.

St. Gregory the TheologianJanuary 25, 2015

O Glorious One, you dispelled the complexities of orators with the words of your theology. You have adorned the Church with the vesture of Orthodoxy woven from on high. Clothed in this, the Church now cries out to your children, with us, “Hail Father, the consummate theological mind.”

Ten Lepers

Having met the Savior, therefore, the lepers earnestly besought Him to free them from their misery, and called Him Master, that is. Teacher. No one pitied them when suffering this malady, but He Who had appeared on earth for this very reason, and had become man that He might show pity to all, He was moved with compassion for them, and had mercy on them.

Weekly Sunday Bulletin – Judgement Sunday

Judgement SundayFebruary 23, 2014

Meat-fare Sunday

“It is the aim of the holy Fathers, through bringing to mind that fearful day, to rouse us from the slumber of carelessness unto the work of virtue, and to move us to love and compassion for our brethren. Besides this, even as on the coming Sunday of Cheese-fare we commemorate Adam’s exile from the Paradise of delight — which exile is the beginning of life as we know it now — it is clear that today’s is reckoned the last of all feasts, because on the last day of judgment, truly, everything of this world will come to an end.”

The Prodigal SonFebruary 16, 2014

The Prodigal Son

Our purpose, O people, is to know the power of God’s goodness, for when the prodigal abandoned his sin he hastened to the refuge of his Father. That Good One embraced him and welcomed him. He killed the fatted calf and celebrated with heavenly joy. Let us learn from this example to offer thanks to the Father who loves all people, and to the Victim, the Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Saviour of our souls.
