We thank Deacon John Christakis who is with us today to assist Fr. John with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy.
Fr. Christopher is in New York this weekend having been invited there by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America to assist His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios and offer the benediction at the Annual Archons Award Dinner. The Athenagoras Humanitarian Award is being presented at this gathering to the CBS 60 Minutes News Program which featured His All Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew and the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
Help us celebrate the Feast Day of our Church
Philoptochos will be gratefully accepting baked goods for a light reception to be offered after the St. Demetrios Vespers on October 25th. On that day, please bring your baked goods to the hall between 5 pm and 6 pm. Thank you!

Cancer Chapter– Annual White Elephant Sale November 1 & 2, 2013
It’s time for our annual White Elephant Sale on November 1 & 2. The event will be held in the main hall between 8AM – 4PM on Friday and 8AM – 2PM on Saturday. All proceeds support cancer research at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
We are accepting donations of gently used household items, interesting collectables, vintage items and artifacts. Due to space limitations this year we will not collect or sell articles of clothing. If you are interested in donating articles to the sale please see me,Stephanie Pavlakis, after church during the coffee hour or, any member of the Cancer Chapter for more details.
Please bring your donations starting Sunday, Oct. 27(please not before) and during the week from 9am to 4pm. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Please support our youth with their annual turkey raffle. Purchase a ticket for a chance to win one of 4 turkeys. Date of drawing November 17 after services in the community center. (need not be present to win)

Youth Stewardship Program:
All youth program participants ages 12 years, in 7th grade through 18 years, are reminded to log their activities and to get the proper signatures. Youth stewardship logs are available in the Narthex, GOYA and on our St Demetrios Website. Turn in your form each Sunday by placing it in a mailbox located in the hall or in one on the desk in the South Narthex as you exit the church. Order of Saint Andrew, Archons of the Ecumenical Patriachate
On December 4 and 5, 2013 , the Archons will be sponsoring a Second International Religious Freedom Conference in Berlin, Germany titled Tearing Down Walls: Achieving Religious Equality in Turkey and will bring together politicians, diplomats, etc to discuss religious freedom.
