A Note from Fr. Jim

You will be enriched in every way for great generosity,which through us will produce thanksgiving to God;

   -2 Corinthians 9:11

Εν παντὶ πλουτιζόμενοι εἰς πᾶσαν ἁπλότητα, ἥτις κατεργάζεται δι’ ἡμῶν εὐχαριστίαν τῷ θεῷ.

     -2 Κορινθίους 9:11

To the volunteers, workers, dancers, guests and benefactors of the 2016 St. Demetrios Greek Festival,

After thanking God –who blesses us with all good things and who blessed our community with a beautiful, safe and joyful festival– I must tell you how deeply grateful I am to each and every one of you in the wake of this year’s festival.

Your hard work, faithfulness and generosity of time, talent and treasure made this year’s festival a tremendous success.

Above everything, as your priest, I am most grateful to you for the extraordinary ways in which you exemplified the love, joy and beauty of our faith and culture to our guests. I can’t begin to tell you how many people thanked us for our opening our doors to them and for our hospitality.

In addition to being a successful “friend-raiser,” I was told that this year’s festival is looking like it will also be a record breaking fundraiser.

Thank you again for your faithfulness, love and hard work!

Having said all of this, and having witnessed firsthand your work, I also hope that you will now be able to rest. Remember, even God rested on the 7th day.  “And on the seventh day God finished his work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done (Genesis 2:2).”

In His love and service,

Fr. Jim
