Three Hierarchs Scholarship (THS) Award:

Application forms for the THS awards of Drs. Anthony and Joyce Kales are available in the Church office. These scholarships are awarded strictly on the basis of meritorious academic achievement for college bound seniors. The academic guidelines for consideration include:

Grade Point Average of 3.5 or above; membership in the National Honor Society; a combined SAT Verbal and Math score of 1280 or greater (the combined scores must be from the same SAT exam i.e., scores cannot be combined from two separate SAT exams). ACT substitution for the SAT examination is not allowed. Deadline for submission of application is June 15.

 

 

St. Stephens Summer Camp Scholarship

There are scholarship opportunities to assist our young Orthodox Christians to participate in the St. Stephens Summer Camp in North Carolina.

Attendance at the camp is not only fun and educational but provides our young Orthodox Christians with an environment to develop their spiritual growth.  You may pick up an application from the desk in the south narthex or you may call (954) 467-1515.

 

Greek Traditional Dance Workshops

Parents, Instructors & Adult Dancers,

We are excited to announce Greek Traditional Dance Workshops to be offered on Saturday, June  18 and 25  from 10:00am-12:30pm.  The workshops are open to all St. Demetrios youth ages 12 & up, to existing dance teachers, and also to adults interested in teaching dance next year.

The purpose of the workshop is to:

  • Review the basics.
  • Deepen our understanding of Greek traditional dance.
  • Develop our rhythm and style according to the different geographical regions.
  • Develop the dance skills of new participants.
  • Sharpen the skills of more experienced dancers.
  • Sharpen the skills of our dance teachers for the demands of the upcoming year.

These workshops will give all of us the opportunity to immerse ourselves into the richness of the Greek tradition and strengthen our program’s spirit.

Our St Demetrios Director of Greek Dance, Lilian Vlandis will teach the exhibition group and will lead the workshops.  Lilian has been a member of the famous Dora Stratou Theater of Traditional Dances for 10 years and she has been teaching and directing Greek dance for 35years.   Log on at: http://www.grdance.org/en/ Join the action!
