A Devoted Heart
Dear Friends of “A Devoted Heart” we will be meeting this Sunday to continue our series on The Lord’s Prayer.
We will be studying the scripture from Matthew 6:13, “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”
Why would we ask God to lead us not into temptation if we know He would never tempt us?
James 1:13, “When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone.”
In Matthew 4:3, “Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry. And the tempter came and said to Him,
“If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” But He answered and said, “It is written, “MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.”
Friends, if Jesus was tempted than we must pray to be delivered from temptation as well. Whatever temptation you have faced in the past or are dealing with now, God has promised to make a way of escape for you. ”No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
Join us this Sunday as we study multiple scriptures to unveil how we too have been guaranteed victory over temptation!
For God’s Glory alone,
Helena and Christian
